Application Process
The Foundation utilizes a two stage application process to save applicants time and effort, especially if they are not likely to be funded.
First, interested applicants should complete a two-page Application Form and three-page letter of intent. You can download the application in Microsoft Word format and complete it on your computer. Please do not exceed the two page format for the application form.
The application serves as a summary coversheet for your request. The narrative description on the application form should be completed even though you will submit a Letter of Intent, i.e. do not write "See Letter of Intent" or "See Proposal" on the application form.
The Letter of Intent is essentially a rough draft or outline of a proposal. A Letter of Intent should not exceed three pages and should address the following topics:
- The purpose of your organization and who it serves in general.
- The problem or need the proposed project seeks to address (The use of national statistics to describe a local problem or need are generally not helpful).
- The proposed activities, goals and measurable objectives.
- The expertise or experience your organization has to implement the project.
- Other agencies or individuals who will be involved.
- The total amount of the budget for the proposed project and the amount requested from the Foundation.
- Other funds the applicant is seeking to fully implement the project.
- What the applicant will do if the Foundation cannot fulfill the requested amount.
All application and Letter of Intent submissions must be made electronically, via email. No other materials are accepted or required with the Application and letter of intent. All materials submitted to the Foundation for review shall not be returned to grantees. New applicants or applicants who are not having much success, may want to read Tips for Successful Grantwriting.
Deadline for Applications
The Foundation shall conduct two funding cycles in 2008.
| Cycle One | Cycle Two | |

Please send applications as an MS Word file via email to the California Consumer Protection Foundation at admin@consumerfdn.org. Selected applicants will have roughly a month to prepare a proposal.
Applicants Invited to Submit a Full Proposal
The second stage is the "full proposal". You are only required to submit a full proposal if you have received an invitation from the Foundation. Decisions are made on the basis of your application and letter of intent. If you have been invited to submit a full proposal, please click on the link below.
